Sea Salt House is an elegant self-catering house in the heart of the picturesque fishing village of Stanley, offering ideal accommodation for visitors to this beautiful part of Tasmania.

There are three bedrooms - two with Queen beds and one with twin beds, sleeping a total of six - two bathrooms, a modern kitchen and comfortable sitting-room. A full-length verandah overlooks beautiful views where you can sip a drink and watch the sunset.

The kitchen will tempt you to visit what we believe is one of the best live fish shops in the world. Choose your fish from dozens swimming in two huge tanks and the helpful staff will scoop them out and prepare them for you either whole or filleted. You can't get fresher than that!

If you prefer to eat out, there are excellent restaurants and cafes in the village and, of course, the Stanley hotel just across the street.

The rear garden opens onto the majestic volcanic rock known as The Nut. A chairlift, situated not far from our back gate, takes you to the top of The Nut - unless you feel like climbing it on foot.

You can take a cruise to watch seals frolic in Bass Strait or visit the penguin rookery at nearby Godfrey Beach or, if you like to fish, ask the locals down on the wharf for the best spot to throw your line in.

For golfers there's a great nine-hole golf course and for swimmers wonderful, often deserted, beaches where sea eagles soar overhead.

Tariff: $140 per double and $40 each extra person which reduces to $120 and $30 for the third and subsequent night. This includes provisions for a light breakfast to start your stay. There is a two-night minimum from October 1st to May 1st and three nights during the Christmas and Easter holiday seasons when concessions (as above) do not apply.
